A big thank you to Charlotte (from England) for her prompt reply on confirming the other edits in the Wicca version of Sweep. I did some digging, so here we go! This is all from Full Circle:

Chapter 3, Morgan, page 26

Hunter nodded. "Symbols of fertility."

"I read where people actually have sex outside to bless their fields or their animals," Raven said.

Hunter laughed. "Well, that's one tradition we don't have to feel obligated to perform."

I saw Bree and Robbie exchange glances, Sharon and Ethan making faces at each other, Jenna and Simon smiling quietly and looking at their feet. Jeez, had all of them already done it? Was I the only seventeen-year-old virgin left in Widow's Vale? Hunter and I planned to make love a couple of times, but something had always happened to keep us from going through with it. Now we both knew that we were ready--we were just waiting for the time to be right. I hoped it would right very soon.

"Before our next circle," Hunter went on...

Chapter 4, Hunter, page 32

....Bree left the dessert with us, and soon we heard the distinctive sound of her BMW driving off. Leaving me along with Morgan at last.

I turned on my side and gather her to me, pushing her down on the blanket with my weight, feeling her slenderness beneath me, her legs automatically bending to curve around mine. Her arms came around me and I began kissing her all over, touching her everywhere. I felt intensely alive, curious, excited about our future. My body responded to her so strongly that I knew if we waited much longer to make love, we would lose our minds. It wasn't until I felt her hand on mine that I realized I was at her waist and I had undone the button of her jeans.

Feeling foggy, I blinked and looked at her flushed face. I looked down at my hand and at her hand holding it. She smiled at me with slow amusement...

Excuse any typos and mistakes, and the page numbers are from the US version. :) So there you go. The edited scenes. Not really much, and damn Putnam UK. You just have to wonder what ELSE they cut out! :P

Update: Thanks goes to Moon Chick for her help with the second edit.

I said the whole Wicca/Sweep edit thing was partially closed, meaning that it won't be solved until I probably get the book in my hands and compare them myself.

Thanks to Rach (from Australia) for posting on the boards. I also heard the same thing from somebody else, so I will post it here.

There are supposedly THREE edits in book 14, Full Circle. I will give you one:

Chapter 15, last few paragraphs, US version:

I looked into the deep green of Hunter’s eyes moved by the intensity of the love I saw there stunned by the intensity I felt for him. Was it possible for one person to care this much about another? I felt like I couldn’t get close enough to him.

Hunter kissed me again, and legs and hands got tangle in my skirt. We were gasping in the cool night air, rolling together so that first he was on top and then I was. I loved him having him under me, being able to hold his face in my hands, to feel like what happened was up to me. Which it was.

There, on Beltane Eve, celebrations of fertility, life and love, Hunter and I made our own celebration..."

The paragraph that is in pinkish red is what is found in the US book, but NOT in the UK. So, everybody who is curious and lives in Aussie or UK break out your books to compare this. If it IS true, from several people, I will post the other two "mystery" edits.

I just want to thank everybody for sending responses to the question about the Wicca/Sweep thing. I also want to clarify something: it was considered by the UK editors to do some editing on some scenes. I said in the earlier post “going to”, which probably threw some people off.

So, I say the case is partially closed.

Anyway, this week—July 24th—is Cate Tiernan’s birthday. Yay! I already wished her a Happy B-day, but I will do it here: HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

If I remember correctly, she’s finally in the “writing” process of Balefire. From the looks of it, it won’t be an easy task for her, so wish her well.

Question of the Moment--it's been a long time.

Is there a difference between Wicca [book series] and Sweep?

-S

Update: I don't mean Wicca, the religion, I mean Wicca the series by Cate Tiernan. Putnam UK renamed Sweep to Wicca in the UK.

I posted this on the Banishing Boards, but I will post it here for more exposure because I have no idea, since I don't own the UK versions. I don't think Cate Tiernan would know either.

My answer: Besides the title and covers? Unlikely. BUT...I remember a while back one of the Putnam US editors telling me that the editors at Putnam UK were going to edit the make out scene between Morgan and Hunter in Seeker. I guess because it was too "sexually explicit"? Who knows. I never really thought about it.

So, if anything was edited, it would be all those make out scenes in the original Sweep series--which I think is pathetic. Nothing happened!

If anybody knows, help this fan (and me) out. :D

The Banishing Board is up. Registration is required (because of how the boards handles anon members), but the Q & A board will soon be open to non-registered users who just want ask a quick question and go.
