I asked Cate Tiernan if she could do a little something for the months of June, July, and August--to gear up for the new Balefire series. She has agreed; however, the idea of mine was a spur of the moment thought, so each montly "project" can't be anything huge. In fact, it will be really small, something that can be done fast. For the month of June I had to think of something quick (I threw the idea to her only about a few days ago!), and this month's fun factor is easy to guess: an interview (which will be linkable IN THIS NEWS BRIEF, so check back in a day or so!). <-- Actually, it won't. For the months of July and August...I leave that up to you. Well, maybe one. I just thought of an idea for the month of August. ^_^ But if you have any ideas, let me now (and NO contests!).

Amazon.com (as well as Barnes and Noble Online) posted the covers for A Chalice of Wind, A Circle of Ashes, and A Feather of Stone. Okay, I like them--somewhat! Ahem. They remind me of a dated teen horror novel cover. My favorite one is the 3rd one. Razorbill appears to be going back to those old late 80s teen book covers. I mean, has anybody seen the covers for The Unseen and The Hallow? Totally retro.

Amazon.com has posted a summary for Balefire:
After seventeen-year-old Thais Allard loses her widowed father in a tragic car accident, she is forced to leave the only home she’s ever known to live with a total stranger in New Orleans. New Orleans greets Thais with many secrets and mysteries, but none as unbelievable as the moment she comes face to face with the impossible — an identical twin, Clio. Thais soon learns that she and the twin she never knew come from a family of witches, that she possesses astonishing powers, and that she, along with Clio, has a key role in Balefire, the coven she was born into. Fiery Clio is less than thrilled to have to share the spotlight, but the twins must learn to combine their powers in order to complete a rite that will transform their lives and the coven forever.

I don't care what anyone says, but the Italy cover for book 2 (Sweep/Wicca) is so freaking cool. Who is that on the cover? Sky? Morgan? Ghandi? It has a Sky Eventide vibe to me. But then, what's Sky doing on the cover? She entered into the picture around the second to last chapter! Maybe it's Morgan...NOT. (Did Morgan look that cool?) No matter. I just like looking at it for the moment. Moving on... The Balefire page has been updated with a small summary of everything I know about the series thus far. If you have been keeping up with the current events on Balefire, there is nothing new for you to see. Also, for those that have missed it (or just don't look at the past news below), you can check out the A Chalice of Wind excerpt on that page. It includes the first two chapters. The publication dates on the Release Date page have been updated. It looks like the first two Balefire books will be published in mid August 2005, while the third book will be released early November 2005. I don't know when the fourth book will be released. Most likely 2006.
(And I don't have any news about any foreign release dates at this point and time.)
