Chapter One: Morgan
Circle Kithic is having a meeting at Ethan Sharp's house. When everybody gets there, they all welcome Hunter Niall back from his trip to Canada. They start a circle but Morgan Rowlands suddenly has a vision of Ciaran MacEwan. Ciaran tells her that he has escaped from the Council and he has removed the watch sigil from his body. He also adds that he coming to talk to her. Morgan is shocked and faints. When Morgan wakes up, Hunter quickly ends the circle and asks Morgan what's wrong. She explains and Hunter is troubled over the news. They go the Hunter's apartment to discuss things further.
When Morgan finds out that Hunter's father is there, she feels uncomfortable. She doesn't want to face Daniel Niall because he doesn't seem to like her. Hunter announces that his father might have unlocked the key to disbanding the Dark Wave. Morgan is excited.
Hunter and Morgan decide to scry with stone. But all they get is blackness. Hunter believes it's the Dark Wave. The next day Hunter tells Morgan that he tried to contact the Council, but couldn't get through. They head for Practical Magick.
Alyce Fernbrake announces that her store is moving next door. She says she needs to room, especially for all the books she collected during the years. While Alyce and Hunter do some talking, Morgan sorts out the books. She finds a green book in particular--a Book of Shadows. Alyce gives it to Morgan for free for helping out with the books.

Chapter Two: Alisa
Alisa Soto and Mary K. Rowlands have a little chitchat. They joke around and Alisa reveals about her family life. Morgan comes in starts making the family dinner. Morgan put her book sack on the cabinet and moments later some books spill out. The green book catches Alisa's eye. She thinks about stealing it. Suddenly, the refrigerator opens and the glass butter dish crashes to the floor. Of course, Alisa thinks it's Morgan's fault. Morgan leaves the room since Hunter is at the door. Mary K. and Alisa wonder how Morgan knew Hunter was coming. Alisa turns her attention back to the green book.

Chapter Three: Morgan
Hunter has some bad news: Ciaran has escaped the Council. Morgan and Hunter are both angry and worried. Hunter suggest scrying and Morgan agrees. Alisa quickly moves past the two and leaves the house.
Morgan and Hunter scry. All they see is a girl in flames. They don't understand it. Morgan's mother pulls up and they have to stop scrying.

Chapter Four: Alisa
Alisa goes home and reads the green book that she stole from Morgan. She reads it and finds that author of the book of shadows is named Sarah Curtis, her mother's name. It becomes apparent that there are some eerie similarities between Alisa's mother and the woman she is reading. When Alisa reads that the author has a brother named Sam, she is relieved. Her mother didn't have a brother named Sam. Alisa then hears a crash. She notices that her mother's old jewelry box has crashed to the floor. Something about the box compels her to investigate it a little further. She finds a hidden compartment that has letters from a young man named Sam to her mother. Alisa is stunned. This proves that Sarah Curtis in the diary and her mother are the same person.
Alisa decides to talk to Morgan after school. She tells her that she stole the green book and has found out she is a half witch. Morgan is sympathetic and asks her to come to the next circle Kithic meeting.

Chapter Five: Morgan
Morgan is nervous about having dinner with Hunter's father. Hunter tells her that his dad found some clues on how to stop the Dark Wave. Daniel says that he doesn't think it's a good idea to reveal information to Morgan, since she is Ciaran's daughter. Hunter protests and soon Daniel relents and tells them what he knows. He says he still needs more information. Morgan uses some magick to reveal hidden messages in Rose MacEwan's BOS that Daniel needs.
Morgan goes home feeling ill. She meets up with Ciaran. He wants her to join him but she says no. He says she has put her family in friends in danger because of her decision.
The next day Morgan tells Hunter that she saw Ciaran last night. Daniel says he will spend most of his time trying to find a spell to counteract the Dark Wave. He also says that he will have to cast it--and he could die from it. Hunter and Morgan are surprised and don't know what to do.

Chapter Six: Alisa
Alisa is not happy. She is still trying to digest the fact that she's half witch. She tries to avoid her soon-to-be stepmother, Hillary, too. Alisa realizes that all the telekinetic events that happened are happening because of her. She admits her mistake and feels more dejected than ever.
She goes to circle Kithic's meeting. She talks a little to Hunter and the circle starts. When Hunter asks the members about magick, Alisa replies that she finds it scary.

Chapter Seven: Morgan
Morgan goes to church with her family, despite feeling awful. She goes to Hunter's house and asks Daniel Niall why they feel so bad. He says it's part of the upcoming Dark Wave. He tells her that he has made some progress in his spell, but needs something from the spell caster. Morgan leaves to go dig up the old watch she buried awhile back (see Changeling). She comes back and gives it to Mr. Niall for his spell. Hunter asks why she didn't tell him about it and she gets a little defensive. They soon forget about it and comfort each other.

Chapter Eight: Alisa
Alisa and Mary K. talk about their science project. They are having trouble with their math homework, so Alisa goes and asks Morgan for help. When she enters Morgan's room, Morgan is not looking so good. Morgan almost tells Alisa the truth about why she is so sick but stops short.
Alisa goes home thinking about what Morgan almost told her. She has very bad feeling (including a headache that doesn't go away). She thinks about going to Hunter to ask for an explanation.
Alisa goes downstairs and asks Hilary to take her to Hunter's house. She lies and says it's for school. When she gets the Hunter's house, Daniel answers the door. He reads Alisa as a blood witch, but finds her "reading" very odd. Hunter explains to him that Alisa is a half witch. Daniel is a little surprised, since half witches rarely happen. Alisa demands to know what's going on. Hunter tells her the truth and she is shocked. He explains about the spell, that it might kill her father or any blood witch that casts it.
That night Alisa thinks about what Hunter said. Since she is a half blood witch, Alisa believes maybe she can cast the spell and not die. The next day Alisa states her proposition to Hunter. Both Hunter and Daniel refuse at first, but Alisa says they need a Plan B. They reluctantly agree.

Chapter Nine: Morgan
(Diary Entry: Morgan). Morgan is worried. She is worried about her family, Hunter, Hunter's father, and circle Kithic. She feels that if she joined with Ciaran, none of this would be happening. So she decides to make a plan, to see Ciaran again. After all, she had his true name. That night she sends Ciaran a witch message to go to the power sink.
The power sink. Ciaran tells her to join him and she refuses again. Ciaran says she is the "destroyer", the one that will change things for the Woodbanes. Suddenly, Morgan physically attacks him. Ciaran uses a binding spell on her. Morgan uses a small spell to break Ciaran's concentration on the binding spell. At that moment, she uses his true name and binds him with spells. She sends a witch message to Hunter and Daniel.

Chapter Ten: Alisa
Daniel and Hunter work together to teach Alisa the spell that will disband the Dark Wave. It's coming along but too slow. Daniel is still amazed that a half witch could have as much power as a blood witch, since most halfs are powerless. He suggests that when Sarah Curtis stripped herself of magick, most of the magick was transferred to Alisa. Suddenly, Hunter receives Morgan's message. He and his father leave Alisa at the house alone.

Chapter Eleven: Morgan
Hunter and Daniel arrive at the power sink. Morgan says she couldn't bare the guilt about not joining Ciaran. She confesses that she knew Ciaran's true name. Daniel suddenly attacks Ciaran and Hunter pulls him off. Hunter says they need to strip him now, forget the Council. He calls three blood witches to help with the stripping (Morgan doesn't want to participate). Morgan sends a witch message to Killian MacEwan, Ciaran's son.
The stripping begins and Ciaran tries to break free multiple times. After the stripping is done, Killian comes, drunk. He sobers up quickly when he finds his father has been stripped. Killian, still astounded, takes his father to a safe place. Morgan cries.

Chapter Twelve: Alisa
Alisa has been waiting for hours for Hunter and Daniel. They finally come home and tell her that Ciaran was stripped of his powers. With Ciaran gone, the Dark Wave is no more. Alisa gets a ride home from Morgan. She wakes up hours later and notices she missed school. Alisa and Hilary open up to each other a little.

Chapter Thirteen: Morgan
Morgan falls asleep still feeling bad. When she wakes up, Mary K. asks if she is all right. Morgan says she's fine but stays in bed.
Hunter calls. He says he wishes Morgan was more honest about Ciaran's true name. He also says he will most likely quit his job a Seeker.
Hours later Morgan visits Hunter. Daniel seems very irritable and soon has a spat with Hunter. Daniel realizes that the Dark Wave is still coming; the effects of it are still in the air. He asks for somebody to call Alisa.

Chapter Fourteen: Alisa
Alisa is making progress on the spell, but it's too long and complicated to learn within a short period of time. Hunter has an idea: a three-way tàth meànma; Daniel connects with Morgan and Morgan connects with Alisa as the spell is cast.
They go the old Methodist cemetery to conduct the spell. Alisa starts the spell. She stumbles at times, but Morgan and Daniel are there, in her mind, to help her. Before the last part spell, where the spell is actually cast, Alisa freezes. She sees the Dark Wave coming right before her eyes and is petrified. Hunter and Morgan scream for her to finish the spell, but Alisa can't seem to do it--at first. At the last minute, she says the incantation and the power flows out of her into the Dark Wave, defeating it. Alisa flies backwards, hitting her head on a tombstone. She blanks out.
Alisa wakes up and finds that the spell has worked.

Chapter Fifteen: Morgan
The Dark Wave has been defeated. Everybody feels great. Daniel seems to soften to Morgan. She then goes home.
