Briefly

Cal Blaire is one of the main characters in the first six books of the Sweep series (excluding book 5). He comes to the small town of Widow's Vale and smittens young students at the local high school with his looks and charms. Little do most people know, he and his mother, Selene Belltower, have dangerous agenda to achieve. He introduces Morgan Rowlands to the world of magick and is her first boyfriend. Cal is handsome with raggedy, black-brown hair, golden eyes, and an olive complexion. While in Widow's Vale, New York, he forms a coven called Cirrus, but his reign as leader is brief.

Past History

Cal is the son of Selene Belltower, a famous High Priestess who practices dark arts to achieve knowledge and power. Selene is sinister, cunning, ruthless, and ambitious. Since his birth, Selene has molded her son to serve her and the dark magick she practices. Cal's father, Daniel Niall, left Selene and Cal for another woman, Fiona. Since then, Cal and Selene work as a deadly team. Selene uses Cal (since his initiation) to lure prospecting witches into a coven. When the coven is formed, both Selene and Cal weed out the blood witches, and break the coven up by destroying it. All non-Woodbane witches are killed while the true Woodbanes witches are taken with them.

Present Time

For Selene and Cal, coming to Window's Vale is probably just another diabolical routine. Little did they know that this small New York town is where they were going to met their fate.

In Book of Shadows Cal enrolls in Widow's Vale High School and goes to work recruiting potential witches for his coven. He invites most of the Seniors and Juniors to party one weekend. There, he meets Morgan Rowlands. From the very first circle, Morgan displays amazing powers that attracts Cal to her. When Cal realizes her potential, he moves in quickly and "divides and conquers". He charms Morgan, and she, in turn, falls for Cal hard. Cal sleeps with Morgan's best friend, Bree Warren, to purposely break up Morgan and Bree's long friendship.

Cal continues his schemes in The Coven, playing the role as the "dream boyfriend" to Morgan. Morgan falls deeper in love with Cal, and together they make plans for the future. Unbeknownst to Morgan, Selene and other evil Woodbanes are very interested her--and her magick. They pressure Cal to get as close as possible to Morgan. They want Morgan to depend on Cal and only Cal. Cal is happy to oblige, at first.

Things turn rocky when Hunter Niall and Sky Eventide come to Widow's Vale to investigate Selene and Cal's secret schemes. In Blood Witch Hunter pursues Cal relentlessly and tries to convince Morgan of Cal's true motives. Of course, Morgan doesn't believe him, and soon Morgan's devotion to Cal proves true: she protects Cal from Hunter's wrath by contributing to Hunter's death.

Things start to fall apart in Dark Magick. Cal is entrapped between the his own desires and his mother's. Cal can't deny the feelings he has for Morgan anymore. He must admit the truth: He is falling in "love" with his "assignment". Cal admits to Morgan that he is a Woodbane and Hunter is his half brother. Instead of Morgan binding to him even more, she starts to distrust him. To make matters worse for him, Hunter is not dead and still after him.

Morgan and Sky scry to find Cal and Selene plotting against Morgan. Morgan is angry and confronts Cal, which causes Cal to go ballistic. He locks Morgan in the his pool shed and almost burns her alive. At the end of the Dark Magick, Selene and Cal flee. Morgan nearly escapes with her life.

Cal returns to Widow's Vale in Spellbound to make amends with Morgan. Morgan wants nothing to with Cal, especially when her relationship with Hunter is blossoming. At the end of Spellbound, Cal gives up his life to save Morgan from his fiendish mother.
