What is a "blooper"? Simply a mistake, something that is logically not correct within the series. It can be a spelling error, anachronism, factual error, and many more.
To contest or add a blooper/inconsistency to this list, email me. Note: Do not email me about Cal and Hunter's age discrepancy. Cal lied. Don't email about Cal's last name. Read the Sweep FAQ to find the answer. Do not email about the Spellbound (US) cover. It's been confirmed that the shadow is Cal and Morgan and Hunter are holding hands in the graveyard. Strange but true.
Sweep Blooper Count: 75.
- In Changeling they call Kithic Kithnic in one of the later chapters.
(Submitted by: Kali)
- Vulcan Mind Meld is changed to Wiccan Mind Meld in later books.
(Submitted by: Kali)
- Morgan said she was tutoring Bree in Calculus when Bree was in Trig.
(Submitted by: Michelle)
- Morgan's eye description changes. Dark eyes, brown eyes, and brownish-hazel eyes have all been used throughout the books.

- Mary K. and Alisa were studying for Spanish (or French), but before they said that Mary K. was bringing Alisa her French (or Spanish) book.

- At the beginning of Awakening, the day after Morgan was almost burned, Morgan said that Hunter told her about Selene's schemes of weeding out Woodbanes. This is not true. Hunter never told her such thing. It was Sky who told her in Dark Magick.
(Submitted by: Melysa)
- Hunter in Seeker described Morgan's eyes as green-brown, and paragraphs later, he said her eyes were just brown.
(Submitted by: Melysa)
- In Spellbound, it says that Hunter put HIS own image into the stone through the sheer power of his feelings, when really he puts MORGAN'S. Otherwise the thing deepest in his heart would be himself.
(Submitted by: Kali)
- Before the concept of true names came up, in Spellbound, Hunter was trying to see if she memorized the true names of plants, when it was really the magickal names that you call them in spells. Cause, really, who would want to control a plant? CT must not have realized that true names would mean something else later on.
(Submitted by: Kali)
- In the beginning of the Book of Shadows it said Morgan was in Calculus, but Cate Tiernan had said she was in Trig a couple of times in the other books.
(Submitted by: Undead Chick)
- Morgan said at one point how no one sees her naked other than her mom, Mary K. and her gynecologist, but then in her BOS entry in Seeker she's babbling on about how Bree has her own gynecologist.
(Submitted by: Michelle)
- Hunter says when the Council began the head of it was Dinara Raferty and it was presently being headed by Cynthia Pratt...but then in the beginning of Chapter 6 (in Eclipse), in the quote Dinara Raferty gives her statement, it's dated 1994, although the Council has been around since the 1800s (making her one VERY old council member).
(Submitted by: Michelle)
- In Awakening, Morgan states she has an Aunt Maureen when it really should have said Aunt Margaret.
(Submitted by: Melysa)
- In Maeve’s BOS, in one of her secret entries, she says that Ciaran told her about his children and wife in September 1981 but in Ciaran’s BOS (in The Calling) it says it was August 20, 1981.
(Submitted by: Jujube)
- In one of the books, an age also didn't match. If Maeve was 15 in 1976, how did she become 23 in 1981? (Check Blopper #66 for an elaboration on this mistake.)
(Submitted by: Jujube)
- In the Sweep books, Hunter has green eyes, but on the U.S. book cover of Sweep #5, Hunter looks like he has brown eyes.
(Submitted by: Lorrein)
Webmaster note: This is referring to the 1st edition covers (US covers), not the reissues. Anywayy, an elaboration on this:
Hunter has green eyes in the books, but has brown eyes on the final book 5 cover. But...if you look at the draft cover, Hunter has green eyes.
Morgan has brown eyes in the books, but Morgan on the book 5 cover has green eyes. If you look at book 7 cover, the same model's eyes are dark brown.
- On the cover of Sweep #6, Hunter, who looks like he was walking with Morgan, seems like he has dark hair!
(Submitted by: Lorrein)
Webmaster note: Referring the the 1st edition US covers, not the reissued ones.
You can also add that the guy is a little too short to be Hunter. But it all depends on how you look at it, though.
- In Dark Magick, page 9, in Gìomanach's BOS entry, he refers to Sky as Cousin Athan. Later, on page 59, it's back to Athar.

- OK, I *think* this is a blooper. In The Coven (I think), Morgan goes to Cal's house because she's depressed. Cal's not home, so Selene helps her. I think the chapter's called "Healing Light". Anyway, Morgan casts out her senses to search for Cal, but he's not home. Selene notices, and says something like, "You're very strong. I didn't learn how to cast my senses until my twenties." So, considering Selene is a *very* powerful witch (an '85' on the scale as Cal says), and she didn't learn how to cast her senses until she was around 20, how can (in Awakening, when they are searching for David at the back of Practical Magick) Hunter and Sky cast their senses, too? We can assume that Morgan has strong powers and can cast her senses because she's special. Hunter and Sky are under 20 (at least Hunter's 19), and although strong, are probably not as strong as Selene. And I *guess* we can assume Hunter has had special training as a Seeker (but that doesn't really make sense because Selene probably would have learned any way she could). So how can Hunter/Sky cast their senses if they are under 20 and SELENE didn't learn how to do it until she was in her twenties?

- In book one, Book of Shadows, in the end of chapter 9 Morgan asks Cal if he's initiated, and he answers "When I was fourteen, that was almost four years ago, I'll be eighteen next month". And this takes place a week or two after Mabon.
In book 4, Dark Magic, when Cal asks the Coven to find their correspondences, in the middle of chapter 8, he tells them: "My sign is Gemini" and I really can't see any reason for him to be lying here....
(Submitted by: Eir)
- Hunter's birthday is around December/Yule and he never mentions it, but they always said he was 19. He doesn't turn 19 until the middle of Spellbound.

- The back cover blurb of Origins states, "My name is Rose MacEwan. The year is 1682. It is a hard time to be a witch." However, the entire book actually takes place in 1680, except for a brief bit about Rose's daughter being born in 1681.
(Submitted by: Ariadne)
Webmaster note: In Seeker, Daniel Niall states, "This is a menior of the witch who first created the dark wave, back in 1682." So, 1682 could be the correct date. In Origins, the first chapter is titled with "1680". This could be a typo.
- In Reckoning, at the first circle when the pipes go out of control, Hunter says, "It's alright, keep going, everyone." Then it goes on to say, "His gaze fell on me [Alisa]." Yet the very next sentence is, "By this point I [Alisa] could barely speak or see." So if she couldn't see, then how did she know that Hunter was looking at her?
(Submitted by: Kelsey)
- In Reckoning, page 85: "Aunt Evelyn found Mairin's Book of Shadows years ago," said Brigid, crushing a packet of crackers into her soup. And a paragraph or so down from that: During the awkward silence that followed, the waitress brought our food. So she couldn't have had her soup already, since the waitress brought it a few minutes later.
(Submitted by: Analia)
- In Reckoning Sam tells Evelyn that they should get the "counsel" in on their problems, but then it changes to "council" (the correct term).
(Submitted by: Melysa)
- In book 3 Morgan shows David her birthmark which is under her right arm, but in book 6 in "Attacked" she wanted to show Hunter her birthmark under her left arm. I'm not really sure, but I think there was a mistake.
(Submitted by: Angel)
- At the end of Dark Magick, Morgan stated that Bree rammed her car into Cal's pool house to get her out. In Awakening she said it was Robbie.
(Submitted by: ???)
- I was just re-reading The Coven, and when Morgan is in gym, it says she bent down to tie her shoe laces. Then a few paragraphs later, it says that she pushed her feet into her sneakers and tied them.

- In book 2, The Coven, Bree breaks Morgan's nose, playing volleyball, and that's when Cal gets to go into Morgan's room. In Book 6, Spellbound, in the chapter called "The Leug", it says Hunter wants to go into Morgan's room, and Morgan is thinking: "The only time Cal had been in my room, was when Bree had almost broken my nose". But book 2 says she did break her nose, not almost.
(Submitted by: Marlee)
- In book 5, Awakening, on page 55 Morgan returns to school after an event of almost being burned alive at Cal's house...she approaches the Cirrus hang out and the book says..."Jenna and Sharon were already there, along with Ethan. Matt, Jenna's ex, was NOWHERE TO BE SEEN, and neither was Robbie" and they start having a conversation, then on page 57 Matt is suddenly shown as if he had been in the conversation the whole time...it didn't even say he walked up to them or anything.

- In the fourth book, Dark Magick, on page 75 when Cal says that he's a fire sign and then he says that he's a gemini. Well he can't be a fire sign if he's a gemini cause gemimi's are air signs.
(Submitted by: Candy)
- A small but weird blooper: in book 5 when Magach is writing for the chapter diary entry, he mentions his scrying stone as his "leug". But in book 6, when Morgan and Hunter scry together with Hunter's stone, Hunter calls it his "lueg" (and it is also the name of the chapter.) And the names in each book stay consistent throughout the whole story. Maybe they were supposed to be different...?
(Submitted by: Shéika)
- Morgan's car, as we hear about a lot, is a 1971 Plymouth Valiant, but in Origins, she states that it is a Chrysler Valiant.
(Submitted by: Nora)
Webmaster note: In Book of Shadows Morgan does say her car is a Chrysler Valiant. It later changes to Plymouth Vilant. Plymouth is one specific model of the Valiant car series, and even Plymouth has variations--but different names. The reason why I'm keeping it here is because of the "name" inconsistency--from just a general Valiant car (family) to Plymouth (a specific model).
- In The Coven Selene tells Morgan that Daniel left her and Cal when he was 4, but in her diary extracts, in Spellbound, she says after Cal is born Daniel leaves her soon after.
(Submitted by: Jess)
- In The Coven Alyce says Brahadair means "fire starter" while Morgan says the same thing in Blood Witch. But in Changeling Morgan says it means "fire fairy".
(Submitted by: Melysa)
- It Origins Morgan said she nicknamed her car "Das Boots". In Book of Shadows she says that she and her dad nicknamed the car "Das Boots".
(Submitted by: Melysa)
- In Sweep 3, Blood Witch, in the chapter "circle of two" when Hunter comes, Morgan says that he leaves the car running. Then he and Cal run into the woods and Morgan follows, Hunter never turns off his car. But in Dark Magick when Morgan leaves Cal's house in the chapter "falling", Morgan says she can't move Hunter's car because Hunter has the keys, but the keys have to be in the car for it to be running and it should still be running.

- In Changeling in the chapter "Imbolc" Hunter tells Morgan that she has a watch sigil on her and she asks him to take it off and he does. Then in Eclipse in chapter 1, Ciaran comes during the circle and tells Morgan that he dismantled the watch sigil she placed on him. Morgan then proceeds to tell us she had no idea it could be dismantled.
(Submitted by: Kim)
- In The Coven Mary Grace tells Morgan that she was about seven months when she was adopted. A week later after the adoption took place, there is an article that announces Angus and Maeve's death. Since Morgan was born November 23 and her birth mother died June 21, this would mean Morgan was almost seven months old when she was adopted. But in Blood Witch, when Morgan tells Robbie that when she was adopted, she was "about 8 months old". If she was almost 8 months old, she would have been adopted in July, not June.
(Submitted by: Melysa)
- In The Calling (Book 7) Hunter tells Morgan that the council has infiltrated 3 cells of Amyranth, all but the New York cell, but in Changeling (Book 8) Eoife McNabb tells Morgan that the council had only infiltrated the San Francisco cell.
(Submitted by: Elizabeth)
- In Changeling (Book 8) Morgan thought Ciaran's true name and he froze. In Eclipse (Book 12), when Ciaran had Morgan in a binding spell, she wondered whether just thinking his true name would stop him and decided it wouldn't. She thought that she would need to somehow break free first, but she didn't have to write the runes or say his name out loud the first time.

- In Book of Shadows, Bree's car was in the shop supposedly during pages 19-73. But on page 41, Morgan and Bree go to Practical Magick with Breezy.
(Submitted by: Rachelle)
- I noticed this one on Eclipse...on page 68 (line...erm *counts*...23 I think) when Hunter's talking, Morgan goes 'I saw Bree's beautiful coffee-colored eyes narrow a fraction...privately I thought a bit of competition would be good for Bree...it would be something that she had never had before'. This is wrong...Bree had competition for Cal coz after they slept together, he chose Morgan, not Bree.
(Submitted by: Charlotte)
- In the first book of the series, Book of Shadows, Morgan attends her first circle. At the very end of page 27 and the beginning of page 28 it says, "I was standing closest to [Cal's] left hand. He reached for my hand and held it." And then on page 29 it says, "Cal's body pushed me gently counterclockwise...". But rotating counterclockwise means rotating to the right which means the Cal would have to PULL her rather than PUSH her because she was on his left.
(Submitted by: Andi)
- In the third book, Blood Witch, on page 29 in the 3rd paragraph it says "And everywhere there were books; on runes, on how the positions of the stars affected one's spells, on the healing uses of MAGIC, on how to increase one's power." They spell magic with a "c" instead of "ck".
(Submitted by: Andi)
- In Seeker, when Morgan scrys, Hunter and Justine both feel her scyring. Hunter says, "I became aware that someone was watching me, scrying for me", and Justine says "Who was that?" If this is so, why didn't Cal, Selene, and all those other Woodbanes at the secret meeting in Dark Magick feel Morgan and Sky scrying?
(Submitted by: Melysa)
- In Night's Child when they were about to face the Dark Wave, they call it the "Black Wave".
(Submitted by: Sherie)
- In The Calling, on page 92, Morgan and Robbie are talking about how Bree is treating him and it says, " We walked on in silence, I was the one who finally broke it. ' If I were you i would have decked Bree a long time ago.' He grinned at me. ' You did once, didn't you?' I winced at the memory of a horrible argument in the girls' room at school. An argument about Cal." But that was in Book of Shadows, the argument that she is referring to in which she slapped Bree across the face was in the hallway, in Dark Magick, on page 29, and they were arguing about both Sky and Cal.

- In Full Circle, Celia and Robin tell Hunter that they're from a coven called Willowbrook, but later on in the book, Hunter mentions several times that the coven is called Willowhaven.
(Submitted by: Fran)
- In Blood Witch, chapter 4, Hunter writes an entry dated Litha, 1990 that says
how he woke up to find his parents gone, but in Awakening, chapter 8, Daniel writes an entry dated Litha 1991, saying he abandoned his children.

- In Full Circle Eoife is spelled 'Aoife' at one time.
(Submitted by: Máire Kane)
- In Full Circle on pages 184-185, Hunter laces Morgan's fingers with his then they walk a
bit more then it says that Hunter grabs her hand and leads her over to the middle of the clearing. If he was already holding her hand why did he suddenly grab it.

- In the Epilogue of Full Circle, Hunter gives Morgan a Claddagh Ring. Just a little
mistake but a Claddagh ring has a crown on top of the heart. The saying goes "With my hands I give you my heart and crown it with my love."
(Submitted by: Máire Kane)
- In The Coven, it says that Maeve was studying for her A-levels. Maeve lives in Ireland. Kind of a problem if you live there. Unless you live in Northern Ireland. You see we do 'Leaving Certs'.

- In Eclipse, Alisa says that, like her mother, watches do not work on her and they break. But in Reckoning on page 46, it says Alisa checked her watch. How is this possible?

- In Origins, Rose says that ‘An inverted pentagram was a legendary symbol for the harnessing of evil, though I’d never known anyone who’d used it’. But in the chapter "the witches jar: a spell of protection", she says she sees an inverted pentagram outside the mill, where she also sees Ian MacGreavy doing dark magick. So she had seen it before, and in connection with dark magick.

- In Full Circle Morgan says she's never been to Taunton, but she has been because that's where her Aunt and her girlfriend lived.

- In Changeling when Killian uses the true name spell he says all witches discover their true names during their initiation but in Night's Child Morgan says you discover if you take a Great Trial.

- In Dark Magick on page 165 (About the end of paragraph 3) it says: Fear shot through me. "What are you talking about?" His face had a strange look, a look of desperation. I was suddenly terrified. The next second I whirled, broke into a run, and was digging my car keys out of my pocket. I RIPPED OPEN THE CAR DOOR, hearing Cal right behind me, then HE YANKED THE DOOR OPEN , HARD, AND SHOVED ME IN". According to Morgan she had already ripped the car door open, but it says nothing about her or anyone else closing the door so how could have Cal yanked the door open and shove her in, if it already Was open???

- In Night's Child, it says "Her mother opened her eyes, and Moira was relieved to see that they were the mixed shades of brown, green, and gold that she knew". In past novels they were just "brown" or "hazel" or "dark" (take your pick, since they change so much), so when did Morgan get the "gold and green" specks in them?
(Submitted by: Melysa)
- In Book of Shadows Morgan in leaving to go to Jenna's for a circle. She says that Jenna lived in Hudson Estates, a new neighborhood filled with mansions. However in Blood Witch she is pulling up at Jenna's and says that she lives in a SMALL Victoria house that was charmingly RUNDOWN. If Jenna lived in a new Mansion then why would it be small and rundown?
(Submitted by: ???)
- In the book The Calling on page #129 second sentence, when Morgan is talking to Hunter, she says "That's because was it nothing. Just a pigeon. And then right after that you showed up." That is grammatically incorrect. 'Was' and 'It' are placed wrong; it should be "That's because it was nothing (and then the rest of the sentence)".
(Submitted by: Lulu)
- In Night's Child Cate Tiernan wrote that Morgan was able to drive from Cobh to Wicklow in a few minutes. This is a huge geography mistake. Here is a map of Ireland. Cobh is an island off Cork city. It would take about 90 minutes to travel to Wicklow, but since Cobh is an island it could take longer, seeing how they would need a ferry to travel to the mainland.

- In The Coven on page 113 Cal said 'now lets talk about spells and limitations!' but then he started talking about runes.

- In book four, Dark Magick, Morgan found her mom's secret entries and says they dont start until maeve was 18, in 1980. Maeve met Ciaran in 1981, when she was 19, but in book 7, The Calling, Ciaran says he meets her in 1981, but he says she's 23...how is that possible?

- In Strife, while Hunter was having dinner at Morgan's, it says on page 6 that Morgan headed for her seat BETWEEN Hunter and Mary K. But later on page 7 after Hunter makes the comment about the Scientific America, it says "ON THE OTHER SIDE OF HUNTER, Mary K, leaned back in her chair to give her a broad wink." So where is Mary K. really sitting? Next to Morgan OR next to Hunter?

- In Full Circle, book 14, in chapter 8, Hunter: "He's day-and-night different," I assured her. "He's going to seem like my old da any day now." Sky make a face at my cheekiness. It should be Sky made a face at my cheekiness.

- In Book of Shadows, the Kilburn Abbey chapter, the lady says "You must be the group from St. Michael's!" Well, in Spellbound, chapter 7- Circle Of Three, pg. 75, it says Morgan pulled into a spot outside of SAINT MARY'S.

- In Spellbound, chapter 6-The lueg, page 70, the last paragraph, "We leaned toward each other, our heads almost touching, our hands joined lightly on the lueg. It was like looking into a black pool in a woods." It says "in a woods". That's grammatically incorrect. It should be in THE woods. I'm pretty sure that's what she meant.

- In Full Circle, chapter 7 when Morgan says, "One night Sky had gotten drunk and had ended up in a compromising position with him in his room. Raven and I had found them. While Sky and Raven were still going out." But that's not true because Raven announced in chapter 14 of Changeling that she and Sky had broken up, and the event with Sky and Killian didn't happen until later on in chapter 15.

- In Book 1, Book of Shadows, on the first page (line 5) it says, "She [Bree] greeted me with a hug", and then on line 7 it says, "...and met Bree halfway down the front steps". If Bree hugged her shouldn't they be with each other???

- In the chapter “treasure” of Blood Witch, Morgan is looking at the contents of the box of Maeve’s tools. She says at the bottom the is a claddagh charm on a chain, she says “It was funny: Mom--my adoptive mom--had a claddagh ring that Dad had given her on their twenty-fifth anniversary, last year.” But at the start of Changeling, Morgan says she is being left in the house for 11 (??) days as her parents are going on a cruise for their twenty-fifth anniversary. That’s impossible.

- In book 15, Night's Child, when Moira is reading Morgan's BOS, it shows that Moira has read up to where Morgan shapes shifts into a hawk to kill Selene. But then a couple days later, Moira is told about Hunter and Ciaran. If Moira was up to where Morgan turned into a hawk, shouldn't she already know about Hunter being her mum's lover and Ciaran being her grandfather because that is just too a big deal for Morgan to leave out of her BOS.
